An Exciting Event rounded up a rowdy crew from all over the country to support fellow Eventer Jacob Barton on his udderbot formal concert debut on August 20th, 2010 at the Independent Media Center in Urbana, Illinois. A full 2-hours of music written and adapted for the udderbot included original works by Eventers Marji Gere, Dan Sedgwick, Andrew Heathwaite, and Jacob Barton. The audience was standing room only. The concert ended with Martinu's Fantasie for piano, string quartet, oboe, and theremin, with the theremin part played on udderbot, to great effect!!!! Beautiful musician friends from Iowa, Mississippi, Chicago, and New York City came out to make the Martinu a true showstopper. Here is a recording of this Exciting Chamber Music Event: Bohuslav Martinu's FANTASIE --featuring Jacob Barton, udderbot; Megan Marolf, oboe; Marji Gere and Carrie Beaderstadt, violins; Tomas Fajardo, viola; Sara Wilkins, cello; Dan Sedgwick, piano. |

The amazing Charlestown Working Theater is hosting An Exciting Event and their wacky puppet musical The Moondog Madrigal Puppet Show!

An Exciting Event interweaves the late Louis
“Moondog” Hardin’s catchy and complex madrigal rounds with their own
dazzling menagerie of musical instruments and rowdy crew of
recycled-garbage puppets to tell a story of love, education, and a
Giant Earthworm. During the week before the big weekend, when they are not rehearsing, An Exciting Event hopes to run a mad and merry marathon of house concerts, cafe open-mike appearances, and singing telegrams in order to recover costs for their own airfare, room and board and to raise funds for future projects. Do you want to get involved? YOU can make An Exciting Event happen! |
